THE ADVENTURE
Over two weeks (13 days), we will travel the length of New Zealand’s South Island exploring the very best off road Wilderness locations. We start the trip in Picton and travel right down to Arrowtown in Central Otago. We will explore high mountains, glaciers, remote river valleys, vast open moorland, private stations and discover some of the gold mining and farming history that has made Backcountry New Zealand what it is today.

We will stop into small provincial towns for supplies and fuel and the occasional night, but the aim of this trip is to camp in amazing wilderness locations and avoid tarmac. The tour convoy will be limited to ensure that we have a small tight knit group of explorers ready to have the overland adventure of a lifetime!!!

Highlights of the trip include, Wairau Valley, Molesworth Station, Hanmer Springs, Lake Coleridge, Lake Heron, Godley Valley, Black Forest Station, Oteake Conservation Area, Nevis Valley, Dunstan Trail, Eyre Mountains and Macetown.

ACCOMMODATION
We will predominantly be camping in Wilderness locations. Because of the length of the trip and dependency on the weather, we need to maintain a certain level of flexibility. Planned overnight stops will be advised several days in advance where accommodation needs to be booked.
 
COST BREAKDOWN
The cost of the NZ Wilderness Overlander trip is $3,999 per vehicle. All prices include DOC and private land access fees. 
 
NOTE: In our most recent trip we covered just over 2500kms, more than double the length of the South Island!
